Perhaps John could explain to the Sri Lankans the trials and tribulations witnessed by the Australian governments and how effective is the administration has become since the Federation was formed.

Australia and Sri Lanka have similarities. Size of population is more or less the same.

In Jan 26, 1788 two British ships entered Port Jakson from Botany Bay. They saw a fine harbour. Surgeon - General, John white declared it to be the finest and most extensive harbour in the universe. He said Tincomalee at Ceylon, acknowledge as one of the world's best harbours, could not be compared with it.

There are comparisons. There are similarities. But over the last two centenaries common sense that prevailed in the two countries differed vastly.

In Sri Lanka, nationalism of the majority community overshadowed common sense. It is not too late to rectify.

John McCarthy could be of great help in the healing process.
