This portfolio is no big deal for me and I am holding on to it very lightly as I am prepared to leave it and go home at any moment. Housing Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

“ We didn’t come here to hold on to these posts. We are against the holding of elections and giving constitutional power for something that was defeated militarily. The Eelam dream was defeated with many sacrifices by our soldiers. We are not willing to betray them” he said.

Explaining the rationale of the NFF holding its May Day rally separately after holding it for four consecutive years with the government, the minister said there were many things which he could not say if he was on a government stage.

“ We cant say that we don’t want the Northern Provincial Council elections and that we don’t want Tamil and Muslim separatist elements getting what they want.
