The British High Commission in Colombo, has sought “verification and are awaiting further details from the Sri Lankan authorities” regarding the alleged assault of two British nationals by Malaka Silva and his friends on Saturday night.

A spokesperson for the High Commission told Daily Mirror that officials of the High Commission “are currently in touch with the authorities”.
The spokesperson further said that, until the High Commission receives verification from the Sri Lankan authorities, they could not comment on further steps that would be taken.

Malaka Silva, the son of controversial Minister Mervyn Silva is alleged to have assaulted a Scotsman on Saturday night at a night club in Bambalapitiya.
The Police earlier said that the Colombo Crimes Division is looking to arrest six of Malaka Silva’s accomplices, who are also alleged to have assaulted the Scotsman.(Hafeel Farisz)

What a brilliant idea!! When the Government is trying hard to promote tourism in Sri Lanka, we should tell British to get "Lost". By the way how about the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish and even the Indians. It would not be long before we add Chinese to the band wagon. Ha! Ha!! Ha!!!

Ruwan welikela Tuesday, 04 November 2014 04:06 AM

What about taking action against all the British hippies who have overstayed their visa. some have absconding after not paying their hotel bills and those rowdies who have got on board our national carrier Sri Lankan Airline and creating bomb scares. These British rascals should be whipped and hanged like in Saudi Arabia. These hippie think we are still a British colony!

This is the culture that this country is experiencing now, the country is spending millions on infrastructure and advertising to attract tourists but this kind of behaviour from politicians is going to do lots of damage. Even the rule of law is different to them.
