The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will no longer be working as an independent organisation for running the game of cricket in Asian countries, Pakistan Observer reported.
According to the highly placed sources in Malaysia, the ACC’s Head Quarter office will no more be functioning after June this year.
“Only the two departments of the ACC (a) Finance department and (b) Tournament & Event management will operate from Singapore”, the source added.
“Sultan Rana (Pakistan) and Thusith Perera (Sri Lanka) will work from a “flow office” in Singapore and rest of the staff, including the present CEO Ashraful Haq, who has gone to Dubai for the office work, will be jobless”, the source added.
“The present coaching and game development staff will have an option to join the ICC’.
The ACC was first established in 1983 as Asian Cricket Conference and the name was then changed to the Asian Cricket Council in 1995.
It has a policy of appointing the president on rotation from Asia’s four Test countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh).
“At present, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has only interim board, its last president, Jayantha Dharmadasa is no more holding the charge”, the source added.
“The future of the Asia Cup is now very much in doubt”, the source added.
