My quick reaction was like all others that this woman is sick. Well, to torture her own small children (one is one only 18 months) who knows what difficulties or agony that this woman is going through. Easy to punish this mother but there are so many other woman also going through the same mental conditions. Its a social problem we dont have a system to prevent it. Male Chauvinism is a main reason too.

The majority of the nation being Buddhist, and temples and statues being built in almost every junction simply to remind people of Buddhism and its teachings and mainly to reduce these type inhuman activities.

How can a mother do such a brutal thing to her kids? This is insanity.

    citizen1 Friday, 30 July 2010 07:17 AM

Most women who abuse their kids are being abused by their spouse. A sick cycle.

    lal Friday, 30 July 2010 07:18 AM

the mother also should be given the same hot rod so that she will understand the pain gone through by her own kids

    roger Friday, 30 July 2010 07:43 AM

    I agree with Holmans comment.

    arshad Friday, 30 July 2010 08:01 AM

Probaly she may be suffering from depression , Action should be made to counsel her.

    harris Friday, 30 July 2010 08:37 AM

And also the abusive women who keep verbally abusing their men in front of all...

    Neighbour Friday, 30 July 2010 08:39 AM

Pls don't make silly comments… this is a serious psychological problem in our society. Some men & women go mad when they do live in poverty and go thr'u family problems.. Neighbours can also play a vital role to overcome these issues…

    harris Friday, 30 July 2010 08:41 AM

Women in need or children in need ? we were getting so many unsolicited sms's for women in need. how about children in need ?
Also how about parents and specially mothers who abuse children at a rate.

Palitha Heenthotuwa Friday, 30 July 2010 08:44 AM

This is a serious problem which calls for a separate ministry.

Kalu Malli Friday, 30 July 2010 08:47 AM

What kind of mentality is she in??? Guess this act should be performed on her... then she will understand the pain...

    harris Friday, 30 July 2010 08:49 AM

Many parents, specially mothers silently abuse children as punishments. Women's organizations etc try to hide this. But let's talk openly and change this habit and instill the value of punishing the children in a more human non physical way. Even emotional abuse in front of others should be condemned. But we should positively reinforce good behavior in front of all and negatively reinforce undesired behavior in private. Of course many father's are also responsible for child abuse.

    renate Friday, 30 July 2010 06:12 PM

I guess there must be thousands of such cases ...

Tharaka Chanaka Friday, 30 July 2010 04:37 AM

    One way to Angoda please....

    Barbarian Friday, 30 July 2010 04:49 AM

It’s just the tip of the iceberg, next they should be putting behind bars abusive husbands who violate there own women.

    Holman Friday, 30 July 2010 05:05 AM

An emotionally abusive husband may be the cause for all these. Ministry of Women's Affairs, you have lots to do, please.

    Bakamoona Friday, 30 July 2010 05:09 AM

Yes Tharaka Chanaka, majority of SL women will end up in Angoda soon. They are burdened with all domestic problems while their men enjoy the bottle.

A survey conducted recently has shown that a majority of the people in Sri Lanka are mentally deranged due to the prevailing life style. This lady is one of the victims and she urgently needs psychiatric treatment.

    Shovini Friday, 30 July 2010 05:13 AM

Lock her up and treat her.

Aboo Zack Friday, 30 July 2010 05:25 AM

Mr. Barbarian, I welcome your comments

Muhandiram Imsid Friday, 30 July 2010 05:32 AM

Is the husband under a petty coat govt. to complain to the Police? Surely, he could have dealt with this himself by getting the wife to see sense.

    Dhiga Friday, 30 July 2010 06:28 AM

So sad. There are so many comments and suggestions, but this is something no one can stop. There is no county in the world where there is no Child abuse. So lets take care of our own the best we can.

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 30 July 2010 06:42 AM

Time to have a real woman as the Minister for Women's Affairs and not somebody who boasts that his mother was a woman!

    I Hussein Friday, 30 July 2010 06:44 AM

Thanks for reminding, I have almost forgot that there is a minister as such.
