An officer attached to Hambantota Wildlife Department was killed when his weapon allegedly misfired during a confrontation between several poachers in Walasugala, Hambantota this morning Police said.
A group of wildlife officers had carried out a raid in the area upon receiving information about a group of poachers.

Why not deploy trained military personnel instead of armed wild life officers. Or do they lack the capacity to protect wild life? Forget about the job security of W.L officers they are a threat to their own lives.
