Responding to allegations of corruption with regards to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2011 final, ICC Anti-Corruption Unit General Manager Alex Marshall said they had no reason to doubt the integrity of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final 2011.

“The ICC Integrity Unit has looked into the recent allegations regarding the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final 2011. At this time, we have not been presented with any evidence that supports the claims made or which would merit launching an investigation under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. There is no record of any letter regarding this matter sent by the then Sri Lanka Sports Minister to the ICC and senior ICC staff at the time have confirmed they have no recollection of receiving any such letter which would have led to an investigation,” Marshall said.

"We take all allegations of this nature extremely seriously and should we receive any evidence to corroborate the claims, we will review our current position," he said.

"If anyone has any evidence that this match or any other has been subject to match-fixing, we would urge them to get in contact with the ICC Integrity team." Marshall added.

This has garnered so much international press and has ruined the image of Sri Lanka cricket. Even though this was a baseless accusation - the damage has been done! Society deserves the politicians they get - and this true! We keep electing day light robbers to lead us. I saw an advertisement of Ravi K where he’s branding himself as a humanitarian. What a joke this country has become. Such a tragedy!

Yes, better check the integrity of the complainants, not the players.

Our cricket lovers of this country respect the intergrity of ICC and none of us had any doubt on this corrption drama staged by the most corrupt minister. He will be taught a good lesson on Aug.05th.

It is possible that this is haled probably (with a doubt) because big names are involved including the cricketers themselves. Watch the match replay and see how dubious the second inning is including the decisions Sanga made. All those crackheads who jump into conclusions must first see the facts or actions leading to facts.

I feel so angry. The evidence is there, just watch the full match. I hope the truth will come out even if it takes another ten years.

If you watch the match, it was clear that SL team did not have interest in winning it. Sanga's facial expressions from the start indicated that he was under some kind of influence and he made several tactical errors which is not normal to him. So if Mahindanada has evidence, then prove it. Otherwise just forget about it. ICC is controlled by Indians and they will never accept that the match was fixed, so your fight will be within your self.

DEAR VOTERS! DO NOT CAST YOUR VOTE TO THIS DAMN CROOK WHO WANTS TO PUT INNOCENT PEOPLE IN TROUBLE

    Sammy Saturday, 04 July 2020 10:17 AM

Why did Aluthgamge start making noises about this only when he is no more the Minister concerned? This is an insult to all Sri Lankan players who were in the team.

When a crackpot babbles something should it be taken seriously?

Sri Lankan cricket has come to this level due to the hard work done by our great cricketers like late Mr Sathasivam, Dulip Mendis, Roy Dias, Aravinda, Arjuna, Sanath and finally by Mahela and Sangakkara. It is a pity that former sports minister Mahindananda instead of taking disciplinary action against them at that time has now started slinging mud at these great cricketers only brought discredit to these great cricketers and to the whole country. It is up to the President and the PM. to initiate action against this minister as otherwise, the voters in Kandy district will have to use their vote to stop this type of politicians entering the parliament.

it is obvious ! ICC-Indian Cricket Council

    P GUNASEKARA Saturday, 04 July 2020 11:03 PM

When I watched it, it was obvious something was up with the Sri Lankan team. It was so obvious. The ICC is controlled by India, so no surprise that they say nothing happened. If as suspected there was something, it would have happened from the highest levels of government involvement. If I recall cricket at that time was so politicised.
