The New Year turns out to be challenging for Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, we are committed to making a better society for our future generation, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.
Mr. Wickremesinghe expressed this comment in his special message for New year.
Following is Prime Minister’s full message
As the refreshing 2019 dawns with new hopes and goals, it is my utmost pleasure to wish all the Sri Lankans a prosperous year ahead.
It was a real victory for all of us to ensure the sovereignty of the people's rule in the country to begin the New Year. I am glad and I must be thankful to everyone who strived in the name of reclaiming democracy setting the ethnic, religious and party differences aside.
The New Year turns out to be challenging for Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, we are committed to making a better society for our future generation. I ardently admire your encouragement, commitment and cooperation in this regard.

Mr Wicks, people are also waiting to see those promises you made about dealing with corruption, murder, and other crimes during the previous regime fulfilled through proper legal means in a fair manner. We would like to see you dismiss Sirisena through impeachment for his vile attempt to kill democracy in our country so cruelly and if need be refer him for prosecution for criminal offenses for doing so. Rid our country of the filthy Presidential system by joining other like-minded parties with the same agenda. Get your MP,s to talk about what is being done. They seem to be unable to explain anything and lost in their own worlds. Arjuna Aloysius must be brought to justice. Otherwise, you will by default drive us back into the arms of MaRa at the next election. Be tough and Act tough. Stop wearing western garb, all of you. Meet the people more often and consult if you need to win.
