WPC member S. Kuhawardhan released on bail

Western Provincial Councillor S. Kuhawardhan, who was arrested by the CID yesterday for allegedly defrauding on cheques amounting to Rs.70 million, was released on bail by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today.

He was released on three sureties of Rs.25 million each after he agreed to pay Rs. 57.5 million to the complainant.

The suspect is reported to have paid one million rupees today and agreed to pay the balance in three installments.
