Two arrested over Rs.7000 mn gem robbery

Two more suspects were arrested in Peliyagoda today on charges of aiding and abetting in the Rs.7,000 million-diamond and gem robbery, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.

He said the suspects had facilitated the robbers to transfer the stolen items without being detected by law enforcement authorities.

The SP said the suspects were identified as Pitigalagoda Arachchige Kasun Sandaruwan (28) of Ranala and Panagodage Hemal Ranjana Perera (28) of Kaduwela and that a relative of one of those arrested was known to be an accomplice of Makandure Madush.
