Showery conditions over the island, particularly in the Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces are expected to enhance to some extent from December 17, Department of Meteorology said today.
It said several spells of showers would occur in Northern, Eastern, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambanthota District.
“Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Western and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
“Wind speed can be increased up to 40kmph at times in Southern Province and in Kandy and Matale districts,” it added.
It further said misty conditions could also be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces during the morning.
The department requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
