Army Special Forces Camp in Seeduwa was isolated with immediate effect yesterday when one of its officers was found positive with Covid-19 on Saturday night, whilst his spouse attached to the Welisara Navy base was maternity leave.
The Major who had got himself admitted to the Dampha District General Hospital on Saturday evening over an illness had been found positive with Covid-19 on the same night, after a PCR test was performed on him.
He had then been transferred to the IDH, the military sources said.
Meanwhile, the victim's spouse an officer attached to the Welisara Navy Base, who was on maternity leave, had gone back to the camp to extend her leave yesterday.
The couple’s house in Gampha and the neighbourhood had been disinfected by the Bemmulla Public Health Officials.(Kurulu Koojan Kariyakawarana)
