Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Kumar Sangakkara had been summoned by the Special Investigation Division of the Ministry of Sports to record a statement over the 2011 ICC World Cup Final match-fixing allegations, SSP W. A. J. H. Fonseka said.

Sangakkara was captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team at that time.

SSP Fonseka said Sangakkara had been asked to appear before the unit tomorrow at 9 am.

The special unit also recorded statements from former Sri Lanka Cricketer Aravinda De Silva, who was Chairman of the Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket at that time and the opening batsman of that match Upul Tharanga over the allegation.

Earlier, former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage claimed that the ICC World Cup final match between India and Sri Lanka in 2011 was fixed.

On June 24, the Special Investigation Division recorded a statement from Mr Aluthgamage over his comment.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Sanga, please tell the SID who forced you to play to loose the match and why did you and Mahela resigned from the team when you'll came back to Sri Lanka.

How could Tharanga, opening batsman leave more than 18 consecutive deliveries from Zaheer Khan at the beginning without scoring a single run? Zaheer Khan had 3 maiden overs, I can't remember he had such consecutive 03 maidens in any other matches during his career.

What is sad is the man alleging the match was fixed, has no credibility, he must first explain the source of the disproportionate assets he owns.

    Dee Wednesday, 01 July 2020 04:16 PM

Please support building of that Homagama international stadium! Match over.

Thank god Mahindananda Aluthgamage is voted out at the next election. Reason - takes 9 yrs to look at issues and report. Top class failure.

Inquiry not complete without Indian Captain MS Dhoni giving his view. Also Tendulkar and Shewag helped Sri Lanka by getting out early so question them as well..

Sanga one of the legends of the sport has to prove his innocence despite the extraordinary career in world cricket. I feel pity for Sri Lankan Cricket.

When we have Ministers without any education we have to face these. At times even the educated politicians from the top act in the same manner

Very interesting if our SI.D. could have a word with that kingfisher bankrupt official called Vijay malliya who was seen walking around and entertaining guests during the match.
