Former MP S.B.Dissanayake said former cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara has asked for the Nuwara Eliya Golf Course for 20 years to bring in one million golfers across the world to Sri Lanka annually.
Speaking at a news briefing yesterday, the MP said Nuwara Eliya Golf Course is the biggest golf course in the country with 300 acres.
“Once I was given Nuwara Eliya as an electorate, Sangakkara met me and proposed a project. In the proposal, Sangakkara requests to give him the Golf Course for about 20 years and that he will bring in one million golf players to Sri Lanka per year. He logically says 1 million can be brought in. I also understood that this is possible. If we can bring in at least 200,000 to 300,000 golfers, we can generate foreign revenue,” he said.

Machang SB, You are bringing names like Sanga now to get some publicity. Otherwise no one cares about what you say any more. Machang, please mind your own business.

Pl don't put the great cricketer into your category. Kumar is not a fool like you to say some thing like that.
kumar Wednesday, 17 June 2020 06:05 PM
Why not?
mangala Wednesday, 17 June 2020 06:29 PM
So you sat on it?
johan Wednesday, 17 June 2020 07:02 PM
Sangakara has already refuted these claims. You are living and lying from which planet.
Dharma Wednesday, 17 June 2020 07:10 PM
Kumar Sangakara is man of action .Why not consider his proposal?

If Govt do things like that on personal agendas they will become their henchmen and also will involve in corrupt acts. We have well-known property development companies that have a good track record. Let them also get involved in bidding then we can eliminate corruption and giveaways to individuals.

And mr ex minister, what did you say to Sangakkara? At least he is an entrepreneur trying to bring in foreign revenue. You however belong to a class of parasites on the SL people.

Good no! We can produce world famous golfers like SB, ha, ha, haaa!!

It's not the golf course. It's a well known fact. A simple search online will reveal the truth. How can a country expect to develop with politicians like this, who can't even remember facts about a simple project proposal? No wonder we are stuck in this rut!

So everything went south when you demanded your cut !!??
Chux Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:01 PM

Great idea
Golfer Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:32 PM
That would mean 2740 guests per day give or take, either this golf course is the largest in the world with multiple areas for golfers to play simultaniously or the idiot MP has got some other agenda.
Honda hetha Wednesday, 17 June 2020 09:12 PM
Yes that means if each player plays over three days, there will be 8,100 players on the gulf link each day
vithura Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:35 PM
It would be a huge sell, to convince and bring in golfers to a course that is in cooler climes up in the hills, further away from the sun and sand for which the western tourist are generally known to come to Sri Lanka.

His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa must kick this guy out from SLPP before the party becomes unpopular.

Trying to sling mud at Sangakkara will only backfire on him. How many years was this scumbag in prison because he couldn’t keep his trap shut?
TONY Wednesday, 17 June 2020 09:05 PM
AND SO HE STARTED CRAB MINISTRY
Prins Rajaguru Wednesday, 17 June 2020 09:24 PM
Sanga would never say anything of that sort This fellow is eyeing the golf course Probably he was refused membership Most members would not be able to afford international prices and if post covid19 golf craze to SL takes off the next move would be to rob via concept 'nationalize'
Dee Wednesday, 17 June 2020 09:44 PM
Can I get the contract to lease the amply grounded A380's to charter the golfers? Also what airports to land them? Mattala not enough. Shall we build a few more?
roni Wednesday, 17 June 2020 09:47 PM
Kumar this is what you get for serving the country with dignity. Do not get dragged into bankrupt persons personal aspirations. Wonder of Asia.
Ascot Dexter Wednesday, 17 June 2020 10:13 PM
Please don't drag Sangakkaras name into your hell whole. He is an honorable man and he will never deal with bankrupt corrupt politicians of your caliber. He has a great reputation globally and you Mr MP even don't have a credibility in your own electorate, leave along Sri Lanka
Vira Thursday, 18 June 2020 07:57 AM
This is a lie. do a google search on "Sanga Nuwareliya". Sanga says: “The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club for which I have extremely high regard belongs to its members and the leasing of which has never arisen even as a thought in my mind let alone in conversation.”
alex Thursday, 18 June 2020 08:58 AM
A developer in Australia recently tried a name a street after Sanga, such is his reputation. and look at what our own country law makers are doing to his reputation
Alfred Collins Thursday, 18 June 2020 01:44 PM
Wish more jokers exist like you. Shame on you SB.
