Former State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene after paying homage at the historical Dalada Maligawa followed by a courtesy call on the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwaththa and Asgiriya Chapters and obtaining their blessings today spoke to the media and said, "Sajith Premadasa should not have rushed in. He should have waited patiently until the 2025 Presidential elections when he could have led the UNP and become the President.
The UNP is not the private property or a family’s asset of anyone. It is a party of the people. But the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is a party of the Bandaranaikes and Pohottuwa is a party of the Rajapaksa family.
He also said that they were not there to attack Sajith's party, but to fight with the government. Presently the common masses are facing many severe hardships. Today people are fed up with politics. Those who charged that we were destroying the environment are now engaged in sand mining and removal of soil. They are also planning to clear a large amount of hectares of forest land, he said. Waiting patiently until 2025... so that RW looses again and finish off what is remaining in the UNP?
Tuwan Friday, 10 July 2020 07:47 AM
May be to you to be the leader hohohoho

U and your leader is a nuisance and u talk nonsense

Absolutely useless statement without any basis. He is only saying to this to cover UNP. On what basis can he predict that Premadasa should not have rushed in. He should have waited patiently. One must take the opportunity when it arises - not postpone.

Your leader has killed the party, extent of damage about 90%. You want it completely killed before someone else can take over. There will be nothing to take over. People are fed up with your system.
Sam Friday, 10 July 2020 09:51 AM
What would you have to say if RW wants to contest 2025 as well?
das Friday, 10 July 2020 10:14 AM
Why don't you just quit and do your waiting for whatever at home?
SN Friday, 10 July 2020 10:21 AM
Will pass your sage advice to Sajith.

We know UNP is a well balanced party in handling the economy by helping the poor and also developing the country but correct information is not reaching the masses but SLPP always use cunningness and market Racism,LTTE resurrection, 13plus,minus etc ext to garnour votes after winning they concentrate only in mega projects poor people are forgotten

So Ranil can be the opposition leader til 2030
Rowan Friday, 10 July 2020 03:23 PM
Ruwan is talking bullshit. Sajith has shown patience since 2000.
Kim Friday, 10 July 2020 05:57 PM
As the leader of the party Ranil was clinging on to the UNP leadership and at the same time working against his own party to help Mahinda secure a two third majority. It was very obvious that Ranil was sabotaging the UNP in return for certain favours in a Rajapaksa Government. Realizing this Sajit had no alternative but to form his own party to block Ranil's selfish motives.
