Labour and Trade Union Relations Minister John Seneviratne, who is a senior member of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), said yesterday that it was sad that some party organizers who had served the party for a long time had been expelled even without giving them reasons for their dismissal.

Minister Seneviratne told Daily Mirror that he hoped President Maithripala Sirisena would reconsider his decision.

The minister said these organizers had allegedly been removed because they had neglected their work for the party in their areas. However, he said the party men were overwhelmingly against the current state of affairs, and therefore the organizers had no way of working in the interests of the party.

“If they have been dismissed because they did not work in their electorates then they should be given the chance to explain their stance,” he said.(Kelum Bandara)

discipline must be maintained every where. Main problem Sri Lanka is having at present is lack of discipline at all levels. Irrespective of their social stand it is a must we maintained discipline to build better future for your grandchildren as well as others grandchildren. If not this country will be a hell hole for future generations.

If the President was to relent on his decision to remove senior party members, he will lose his credibility overnight. He is action on the intelligence reports which he is receiving daily, not on the whims and fancies of people like Seneviratne. If more has to be removed, let the President do so in the interest of the Party and the Country.

I am a long standing SLFPer but now I am totally against the party. Let the chairman of the SLFP remove everyone except those who work for UNP. All these are CBKs plans as her only interest is to see that MR is out even at the expense of SLFP. If the election is held you all will see where the people are. Unfortunately no election as MS and his team are dead scared. One day you have to come to us. We will teach you a good lesson. I request JO not to entertain any of the UNP supporters who pretend to be SLFPers, as they betrayed the peoples verdict after the last general election. If that happens it will be the end of public support to JO s campaign.
