Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka arrived at the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) today to give a statement over the remarks he made with regard to COVID-19 situation in the country, allegedly resulting in Coronavirus fear-mongering among the general public.
The CCD launched investigations into the controversial remarks made to the media in March by former MPs Rajitha Senaratne and Sarath Fonseka over the COVID-19 situation.
Field Marshal Fonseka has reportedly said at a media briefing that three Coronavirus diagnosed patients have died in March.
However, the Field Marshal later said his comments were a mistake.
The CCD yesterday recorded a statement from former Minister Senaratne as well at the Pallansena Prison in Negombo where he is being detained.
