Supreme Court today rejected a motion requesting a 5-judge Bench to hear Mahinda Rajapaksa's appeal against the Court of Appeal decision.
The hearing of Rajapaksa's appeal was also taken up for consideration before the SC bench of Justices Eva Wanasundara, Buwaneka Aluwihare & Vijith K Malalgoda (Shehan Chamika Silva and Farook T. Thajudeen)

Parliament cannot be dissolved, but PM can be changed. This is going to be the verdict.

He can't. So much depends on his remaining to be there, even in shame. Relatives, friends etc lives at risk if he leaves

MR has lost two no confidence motions in parliament. Is this judgement relevant?

I hv noted editor do not post my comments often. Pls post this. Judges r not elected by the masses. They do not hv to campaign, become a social worker from the time they de use to contest and do not have to responsible for e onomatopoeia and governance or national security issues. So when HEap takes a decision for the sake of the country when the present administration is failing in every sphere it is the duty of the Supreme Court to assist HEP by cooperating with him in issues that affects the public. ThoI believe the verdict is short sighted

It is better not to post your comments for your own good. Your comments constitute to Contempt of court. Courts are there to interprete law according to its norms and traditions and deliver a just verdict. Now , are you suggesting the courts should collude with the president or certain individuals?
Preethie Friday, 14 December 2018 05:04 PM
The judiciary is there to interpret the law and give judgements within the framework of the law. It is not there to decide who should govern the country or who is best for the country. Not surprised by your post. Even Sarath Silva thinks so.

How can a judge known to be having some relationship with the petitioner hear the case? Is it morally correct? Is it ethical??
Sofia Friday, 14 December 2018 04:54 PM
But these are the remnants left over after CJ SN Silva who heard the case of Anthony against the CJ himself.
Citizens Friday, 14 December 2018 05:03 PM
I am surprised CJ appoited Eve to hear Satans appeal. Yet we have confidence in the other two Honourable Justices.
gamini Friday, 14 December 2018 05:13 PM
