Refusing nomination to Duminda justified: SLFP

The death sentence on former MP Duminda Silva by the Colombo High Court has shown that President Maithripala Sirisena was correct in refusing to endorse the Mr. Silva’s nomination for last year’s general elections, Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.

He told a media briefing today that the judgement was independent.

“I cannot comment on the judgement other than to say it was based on the evidence submitted by the prosecution,” the minister said. “It is clear the judgment proves the correctness of the president’s decision.” (Chaturanga Pradeep)

Yes, it is true that a lot of current SLFP MS faction were silent when they were in the MR government. But some of them had to for fear of life of being sidelined like MS and others were. Lakshman Yapa I think was not in favour of MR but he too like the others had to shut up at that time! White van syndrome, etc etc! You know what happened to Bharatha Laksman when he criticized the MR government

Yes you have to justify everything to satisfy your boss as you were rejected by voters and you came through back door by stealing the national list that supposed to go to those who were in the list prior to the election
