Fifteen police personnel attached to the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit have been transferred to police stations out of the Matara District with immediate effect over the abduction and killing of two businessmen at Rathgama.
One female police constable and one female sergeant are also among the 15 officers who were transferred.
All these officers had been on duty during the time of the abduction of the two businessmen.
The transfers had been done under the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara. (Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)

Transferring is model not to punish them. If they had supported this crime, they should be kicked out of the police and further remanded as suspects.

Police officers on duty during abduction doesn't mean much. How did the 15 officers become an accessory to this crime shall be published to determine the required punishment. Relocating to Hikkaduwa from Matara is like getting a promotion.
