State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake is reported to have voluntarily undergone a blood and urine test at a private hospital in Colombo today in connection with his allegations that there were ministers and MPs who used cocaine.

He had done so to prove that he was clean and according to the lab reports posted on his Facebook, the results were negative.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had appointed a four-member committee headed by Minister Lakshman Kiriella and comprising State Minister Eran Wickramaratne, Prof. Ashu Marasinghe, and President's Counsel Nissanka Nanayakkara.

Lab Report - CONFIDENTIAL, but it is all over the internet.

Ranjit Bandara Friday, 22 February 2019 09:29 PM

This is just screening only. So still there could be false negatives and positives. It needs to be analyzed using a mass spectrometer to analyze at lower cutoffs and to confirm it 100%. FYI, Ashu Marasinghe is not a real Prof. He did not even have a PhD but have a fake certificate and idiots in SL are buying it. Everyone who attended Science faculty at Univ of Colombo knows about this guy-who could not even pass his general science degree, is a QUACK.

Who asked for his blood report? Instead of narrating in front of the media, prove what you said by providing evidence with regard to your statement against the MPs.

The best test for substance abuse is to test with a hair follicle as, if clean for a few weeks, few month back abuse too can be found. Get all to do this in addition to normal blood and urine tests

Mr. Been. If you can tell the name, without doing it don't play games like the mad guy in Kanchana.

Just like every manipulated illicit document in this country, the smiling face of Ranjan is utterly misleading. THe norm standards used in the tests are set at a threshold well above the international standards. In other words whoever is conducting the test is trying to fool the public. I will bet everything I own (which is not much) if the cutoff standards are set at a limitation as to the same as a safety sensitive employee test standards ... 80% of these MP's will fail the test. As a safety sensitive employee, I have been tested for both Urine and Blood tests for substance abuse and I have never come across a report where the standards as high as what is shown in this lab report. Even Keselwatte Kudu malli can pass this test two and half weeks after an overdose.

Go for DNA.These all misleading the people. after 72 hours never show in blood or Urine except benzodiazepam.

    HP Saturday, 23 February 2019 12:23 PM

Use hair follicles and do the test. That will reveal if drugs have been used in the past 6 months together with the name of the drug/s

Better to test the brain too

if the government is serious about this issue among elected MPs, it should bring a legislation that require all candidates in the future election should be required to submit their blood test result to the election department along with their application. Will the government make that legislation?
