The apparent division between the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) or Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa is nothing but a drama to hoodwink voters, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader Udaya Gammanpila said today.
Mr. Gammanpila told a news briefing that Mr. Premadasa's name was not among those expelled from the UNP recently.
“The UNP expelled a large number of people from the party on the allegations that they were contesting from the SJB. We checked the list thoroughly but Mr. Premadasa's name was not included. What's the reason? The truth is that the division between the UNP and SJB or Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sajith Premadasa is a fake, a fraud and an act," he said.
He said the division has been made so that the SJB can attract voters who are disappointed with the UNP over the Central Bank bond scam.
Similarly, he said the UNP can muster votes of those who are displeased with Mr. Premadasa's actions around the UNP.
“In truth, they are not divided. What will happen at the end is that both parties will join together after the election and continue with the old party. What they are dong is plotting to collect more votes,” he alleged. (Lahiru Pothmulla)
