President takes a swipe at CBK

President Maithripala Sirisena is reported to have been critical of former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga over some remarks she made on the people's mandate at the presidential election on January 8, 2015.

At the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Central Committee meeting on Monday night, Ms. Kumaratunga had insisted that the party should remain in the government because that was in line with the people's mandate on January 8, 2015. Before leaving the meeting, she is also said to have been critical of the CC for not discussing the way forward on policy matters.

However, the President taking a swipe at her said people voted on January 8, 2015, not for a movement but for the person who gave leadership.

“Otherwise, they could have nominated someone from the United National Party (UNP) but asked why that was not so,” he questioned.

The President said Ms. Kumaratunga rarely attended the Central Committee meetings and as such had little or no knowledge about the discussions on policy matters. (Kelum Bandara)

He became President because;1. People were disgusted with the previous regime.2. Rev.. Sobitha Thera gave leadership for the change.3. CBK gave her full support with Ranil and others and they brought MS as the COMMON candidate,4. UNP and minority parties cast their votes against MR.If he had come on his own he would not have received even one million votes.He has forgotten !!!!!!

Same thing happened to MR...he had bad apples around him and he was destroyed. Now MS is also having lots of bad apples like CBK and specially RW. MS was brought into the election as a common candidate through a lot of conspiracy because if Ranil was contesting that election then MR would have beaten him left and right. So MS was brought in to have RW as Prime Minister again and use MS him as a scarecrow and it back fired big time because of the CB bond scam. Since people wanted a change because of the last corrupted regime they swallowed the BAIT laid out by RW , CBK , Malik, etc and voted for MS.... And what is the result now? President got the mandate to contest because UNP wanted to win, but had no jokey, They had no vision too.. MS came in as a quickfix saw the opportunity. Rev Sobitha had a movement but could not contest. At the end, MS won, but he is like a homeless man who won the development lottery and do no know how to deal with it. BOTH UNP and MS strength was that they stick together. This principle Ranil knows, and MS forgets time to time. Now all in a huge soup. But,the marriage has to continue for mutual survival.
