Police media spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne has been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Police said the National Police Commission and the Election Commission approved the promotion with effect from January 1, 2018.

Msm, Why make a big hue and cry over an arrears payment. Any public servant promoted with retrospective effect is entitled to arrears of salary from the effective date of his promotion. It is the law. The reason why he was not given his due promotion in 2018 has to be probed. The promoting authority would have taken into consideration his added qualification as an Attorny at Law in addition to his seniority in service. Heartfelt congratulations to him.
