Penalize MPs who damaged Parliament property: UNP

UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella yesterday urged that MPs who had damaged Parliament property be penalized.

“We like to propose that those MPs who damaged Parliament property on November 14, 15 and 16 be penalized after conducting investigations,” he said.

Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri who was in the Chair said he would inform Speaker Karu Jayasuriya about the proposal.

Mr. Kiriella was jeered when he made the proposal in the House yesterday. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

    First they must be charged in court. Ample video evidence is available to prove. I saw idiots assaulting a police officer. I wonder if it is non bailable. All of them must be taken before court and damaging public property is non bailable

    All those who damaged state property must be penalized. Video recordings show who broke mics, phones, chairs and other property. Disgraceful behaviour.

    Its good for them to keep their mouth shut and pay,but the guy who whack policeman needs to go to courts, many would change their minds to support PP ,if it happen differently
