It has been decided to construct flats for Muslims who were displaced after they were chased out of Jaffna during the war.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe came out with this idea after Trade and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen brought up the issue of Muslim IDPs at a meeting held in the Jaffna Divisional Secretariat Office today.

“Muslim IDPs who were resettled in Jaffna after the war, complain about the space of land available to them. Some of them have returned from the resettled locations. They say the land is not enough with the growing population. Therefore, this issue should be looked into,” Mr Bathiudeen said.

The Prime Minister had then suggested and advised the relevant authorities to look into it. (Yohan Perera in Jaffna)

Why don't control the population growth of those muslims.. It is a burden to not only Jaffna but for whole country

    Anonymous Friday, 15 February 2019 11:55 AM

Idiot the entire human population is increasing, not only Muslims. Population control needs to be undertaken by everyone not just Muslims!

Flats for different races now and later, different areas for different races? The nation, for its size, already has enough of conflicts. Wouldn't this idea create further conflicts? A cognitive approach would be to distribute among all races, not separate. A great leader's vision would be to unite all communities so that they live side by side, not to differentiate them in anyways.

    BOBO Friday, 15 February 2019 11:17 AM

Because no community gave them the space to live side by side. all what happened was they were isolated and ill-treated. I hope u dont want examples lol

Anonymous, you must be delusional to think that the Muslim population is growing at the same rate as everyone else. Who the heck is the real idiot.
