Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has requested both Eastern Province Chief Minister Nazeer Ahamed and the Navy to submit reports on the incident that took place in a school in the East where the Chief Minister had verbally abused a senior naval officer.

Sources from the Prime Minister's office told the Daily Mirror that Mr. Wickremesinghe would hand over the reports to President Maithripala Sirisena when he returns to the country after attending the G7 summit in Japan.

He had also ordered the Navy and the Chief Minister to refrain from giving statements to the media till the President decided on some action. (Yohan Perera)

Hon Ranil is right as in any incident, both parties are allowed to express the very circumstances that prevailed at that time. Because this is a very sensitive matter and ethnic harmony should not be affected.

Don't worry Hon. PM, even if you lose Nazeer you could get better people to replace him. Now he is totally hated by every community. Everyone is expecting a favourable response from you on behalf of the Senior Naval Officer.
