With the new government, though many things have become transparent, their is still a lot of "hench-aiya" mentality amongst the police especially when they are Sinhalese. Therefore, the culture where the President / PM gives instructions to the IGP is all belonging to part of this licking business.

Can anyone imagine a PM in a civilized country telling the police to investigate? We had Mahinda telling police to catch offenders as a signal to forget them?

Why don't they say who has barred the journos from reporting the proceedings?

PM has time for such petty things as majority of the promises made are well are solved.

The PM had to as the DIG and IGP were silent on the matter. Of course I too believe that the Police is still corrupt to the core and they are not afraid of the political structure which also is corrupt to the core via DM Android App

We Sinhalese still belong to the boot licking culture. The IGP and all top officers below him want to protect there future and pocket. They are not Peter Hills who would tell the President to fly a kite when asked to first class seats on a flight in half and hour.

Though Ranil is the Prime Minister of the country the Rajapaksa's still seem to dictate terms to the Government when they should be behind bars by now for all their corrupt activities during the last 10 years.

    AAA Saturday, 14 May 2016 02:09 AM

PM can not ask IGP to investigate. Doing so the PM is interfering in IGP's role.

    TONY Saturday, 14 May 2016 12:00 AM

JOURNALISTS HAVE COMPLAINED TO DIG. SO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. WHY DO YOU AS PM WANT INSTRUCT IGP TO TAKE ACTION. THIS WILL SUGGEST THAT THE POLICE WILL ACT ONLY ON YOUR INSTRUCTIONS

Looks like the Rajapakse's are still running the country!
