President Maithripala Sirisena’s policy statement would be the only item on Parliamentary agenda on November 14 and a No-Confidence Motion against the Prime Minister would not be taken up on that day, the UPFA today said.

UPFA MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that any move to show a majority by any party had to wait till party leaders decided the agenda of the next Parliamentary date.

“Other than the policy statement of the President, no other item would be taken up in Parliament on November 14. If anyone wants to bring in a No-Confidence Motion against the Prime Minister, that has to wait until party leaders meet and make a decision,” he told a news conference held at the Prime Minister’s Office.

He said they did not hope to replace Speaker Karu Jayasuriya or the Opposition Leader when Parliament reconvened.

“We have no issue with the Speaker. We are only against some of his actions,” he said. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

    shiran Wednesday, 07 November 2018 11:09 PM

    IVJ Wednesday, 07 November 2018 11:18 PM

Who gave you that mandate you moron. You better remember that we people elected you to the parliament to maintain democracy and act in people's interests. Shame on you and soon you will know your fate.

    GH Wednesday, 07 November 2018 11:24 PM

    Very clear statement. Well done.

    IVJ Thursday, 08 November 2018 12:33 PM

WHAT ANOTHER STATEMENT. WE ARE FED UP LISTENING TO HIS STATEMENTS GIVING EXCUSES FOR HIS FAILURE TO DO HIS JOB SATISFACTORILY. HE CANNOT DANCE THEREFORE, HE IS FAULTING THE FLOOR

Reality Check Thursday, 08 November 2018 12:13 AM

But everyone in your team said showing 113 is like a walk in the park... Why the fear now? Or did they just wet their pants? Liars!!!

    jayantha Thursday, 08 November 2018 12:22 AM

People want the Parlament to take important decisions to ease the prevailing situation in the country. We dont care about his policy statements.

    RP Thursday, 08 November 2018 01:36 AM

Clear indication of lack of majority. Playing for further time to buy more MPs. Asking MPs to join MR and receive cabinet positions is it not corruption?

    Meg Thursday, 08 November 2018 03:18 AM

Wonder what Sirisena is going to say. His actions have made him a skunk and he now has nothing credible to say.

    mohan Thursday, 08 November 2018 04:42 AM

first govt. pass the floor test. otherwise they have to resign.

    persona Thursday, 08 November 2018 04:53 AM

Unfortunately, you are not the speaker to decide and comment on the agenda of the parliament. Now, we clearly understand why UNP was not successful in going behind the rogues. Just because of you rogues.

    Nimal Thursday, 08 November 2018 05:16 AM

Shame on you people you clearly know you have no majority

    Ganesh Thursday, 08 November 2018 08:28 AM

This is the utter truth but these impotents go round and round shamelessly to cover up their nudity till 14

    Keeraipidi Thursday, 08 November 2018 01:12 PM

Does the President need the Parliament only to deliver his speech? And only on the 14th (if ever)? And is the President able to appoint and dismiss the PM as per his/her wish?If yes then would I expect a new PM every minute and second?

    Mal Thursday, 08 November 2018 09:24 PM

I don't think these people will open the parliament again after the 14th opening ... Don't allow them to open until the agenda is changed. They hope to install a dictatorship government after the 14th and bye bye Democracy from Sri Lanka. Election Commissioner will not have job after the 14th till all court cases are destroyed ...
