The Acting IGP has informed all police stations not to take legal action against those who tap Kithul toddy as no permit is required to do so.
The Police Media Division in a statement said this was in line with the Excise Act No: 4 of 2018 (Amended).
Police said it was reported that cases have been filed by some OICs over incidents of toddy tapping on Kithul trees without a permit.
Accordingly, the Acting IGP has instructed all police stations to not do so.
