The Minister of Passenger Transport Management Mahinda Amaraweera said today that the increase in bus fares will not be allowed at all.

“It is not possible to allow any increase in bus fares. Bus owners have problems. We have discussed the decline in their income. As a government we will take steps to provide other relief to them. However, we cannot allow an increase in bus fares. Those who travel by bus also have economic problems,” the Minister said in Angunakolapelessa.

He said that all SLTB buses were ready to transport people if the private bus association went on strike in protest.(Aneesha Manage)
