Regional Development Minister Field Marshal Saratha Fonseka said on Monday that despite his name was included in the delegation travelling to the United States with President Maithripala Sirisena to participate at the UN Sessions in New York, he was not granted visa for the tour.
Speaking to the media at Kelaniya, Field Marshal Fonseka said he requested to protect the good name of the Army by punishing the wrongdoers and he was also a victim of war allegations as some have engaged in misdeeds under the guise of war.

Really good that the colour-vein-doom was not granted a visa. Had he been granted one, he could cause havoc with his loose cannon at the UN.
Ram Tuesday, 19 September 2017 02:44 AM
SF has sobered down and it is good
Thanga Tuesday, 19 September 2017 03:26 AM
Sarath Fonseka is no saint. In the nineties when he was commander of the Jaffna district more than 500 youths disappeared after arrest by soldiers under his command. They all ended in Chemany graves. The gang rape and murder of Krishanthi Kumarasamy and her mother on 7 August, 1996 at Navakuly check point took place during his tenure as army commander.

Great news. Now spill the beans and expose the culprits without playing hide and seek. If you have done wrong you too should get a seat, the electric one.

People questioned being having "Green Card" why not have VISA to come to United States of America.?Green Card is a temporary residence Permit, to live in America legally ,but any time it can be revoked by the law in America for some reasons .US Citizens Ship holders are the people have rights to live with out restrictions. After becoming "Green Card Holder " for 5 years only Green Card Holder can apply for "Citizenship "providing proof of good behavior, tax all paid , no criminal activities , and , main thing is correct entrance to America legally at the first entering stage.Otherwise even that stage immigration can kicked out of the country.Like Srilanka, No Minister, No Bribe, even No Approach of President can "Over Rule " the process.

We don't want a another US in Srilanka but we must have another UK in Sri Lanka.
Ranjan Tuesday, 19 September 2017 05:49 AM
He tried to get their USA sympathy by decalring recently that he will give evidence of breach of law by his subordinates. But failed. He will do anything under the sun to make money
malij Tuesday, 19 September 2017 08:55 AM
Fonseka has yet to learn a lot about politics is another matter. But regarding making money, SF is not yet even born comparing to MR family and their cronies.
Bala Tuesday, 19 September 2017 08:32 AM
USA double standards. Allow Gota and others to travel there but not SF. Why ??
Jaliya Tuesday, 19 September 2017 07:41 PM
It is better that you don't comment on a subject that you have absolute zero knowledge of.

THIS PERSON WAS HIGHLY RESPECTED AND WAS A HERO.BUT,DUE TO DIRTY POLITICS,HE HAS BECOME HERO TO ZERO.
Jayasingha Tuesday, 19 September 2017 09:59 AM
The question is why the president put SF's name in the delegation? What was the motive knowing the people he is going to meet with the delegation? We have to question like this because of the controversial statements SF made during recent past. This smells fishy.

His bit in the collective effort in war victory apart, his foul mouth and verbal diarrhea makes him ineligible to be in the hallowed precincts of UN.
shanthapriya Tuesday, 19 September 2017 10:17 AM
Irrespective of internal political differences sri lanka must act against US decision.

Jaliya Tuesday, 19 September 2017 07:37 PM
Yeah.... great idea Eisenstein, so next year only the president will be allowed visa. Even he can be refused but unlikely as a head of a state ............. whether that state is un-civilized corrupt or not
Hautaum Tuesday, 19 September 2017 01:29 PM
US can not be fingered single person because since 1948, SL govt' leaders have created anti communal/social activity.
Sunil Tuesday, 19 September 2017 01:31 PM
Serves you right.

Good news. had he gone he will disrepute the country more/
Hiran Shanaka Tuesday, 19 September 2017 02:05 PM
Actually, more than Sarath, it was UN and President Maithree that had lost the face. After all, Sarath was taking part in a UN delegation, picked up by Maithree. Maithree can talk sweet things such as protecting war heroes, but he failed to ensure a simple Visa requirement for the delegate chosen by him. Shame on Maithree and UN!

Hautaum Tuesday, 19 September 2017 07:26 PM
as SF is one of the main tool for war crimes matter but theory was created since 1948 our P.leaders and monks
I doubt that the US government had refused him an Visa.If SL had issued him a diplomatic passport it would not be possible to deny him an visa.I think MS did want to be embarrassed with his presence though MR had scoundrels and thugs who drank Blue Whisky and beat up the Hon London Ambassador DR Nonis.i
