Navy arrests 5 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

The Sri Lanka Navy said it had arrested five local fishermen who allegedly engaged in illegal fishing practices in the seas off Silawathura.

Along with the suspects, a dinghy and a monofilament net were also taken into custody.

The apprehended persons and the items were handed over to Mannar Assistant Director of Fisheries for further action.
