State Minister of Industries Dayasiri Jayasekera said today that none of the vehicles at his ministry, while new, can be used and that he hoped to get at least one vehicle from the Presidential Secretariat.
Assuming duties at the Industries Ministry in Slave Island today, Minister Jayasekera said that Ministry of Industries had been tagged with several other ministry portfolios during the last ten years.
“We don't even have a single vehicle that we can to use. That is the present condition of our ministry. There are a number of new vehicles at the ministry but we can't use single one of them. We expect to get at least one vehicle from the Presidential Secretariat,” he said.
When a journalist said that there were several latest vehicles including two Defender vehicles parked at the ministry premises which can be used, the Minister laughed and said, “Don’t know, will see, even we can’t find. More vehicles will come out from the hiding.”

THE PRESIDENT RECENTLY COMMENTED THAT A MINISTERIAL POST IS NOT A PRIVILEGE. SO DONT LOOK FOR VEHICLES GET DOWN TO WORK. THE MINISTRY HAVE NO VEHICLES USE YOUR OWN FOR A CHANGE AND LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND NOT BY EXCUSES. DID YOU DEMOLISH THE PARTY FOR PERSONAL BENEFITS
