The Department of Meteorology yesterday forecast mist in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Central provinces during the next few days and that fairly strong winds of up to 40 kmph are expected in the Uva and North-Western Provinces and in the Hambantota and Ampara districts.
Light showers were forcast in the Eastern, Central and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Western Province and in Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts after 2.00 p.m. with mainly fair weather prevailing in other parts of the country.
There were heavy rains in the catchment areas including Rantambe, which had received a rainfall of 77 mm yesterday. (Yohan Perera)
