Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna today closed the case against a suspect who was charged with foretelling the President's death via social media.
The Magistrate released the suspect from the case when the CID informed court that the Attorney General had informed the CID that they would not take further steps to investigate the allegations against the suspect Vijayamuni Vijith Rohana of Abeyratna Lane Boralesgamuwa.
The suspect described himself as an astrologer and had released a message to Facebook claiming that President Maitripala Sirisena would breathe his last on January 26, 2017.
The CID had initiated an inquiry into the claim on a complaint made by the presidential media unit head Sameera De Silva on January 20 ,2017.
However, the case was closed without further inquiry as the CID had terminated investigations.
