They said the 31-year-old Swedish female, who arrived in the country six months ago, was staying with her local boyfriend, who runs a guest house at Pottuvil.

“The boyfriend had gone out to buy dinner last night when the 18-year-old suspect, a resident of Panama had forcibly entered the Swedish woman’s room. He had threatened her with a knife before sexually assaulting her,” the Police said.

The victim’s boyfriend had lodged a complaint with the Ampara Police.
