Buddhism and Hinduism are having same root. Even lord Buddha is a Hindu. Why people are not following Mahinda's path?

You have to Polish your knowledge in History of Religions. Buddha was not satisfied with the teachings of Hinduism specially those based on caste system. He went ahead to seek the truth which he ultimately found. But sadly today's Lankan Buddhists thrive on caste system, which is very sad.
