A A A

The late Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunge’s daughter, Ahimsa in a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena over the removal of Inspector Adrian Nishantha Silva from the Criminal Investigation Department has said "Make no mistake, Mr. President. If you try to stand in the way of justice for my father & other victims of brutality, you will fail."

“Alternatively, you could wait until the independent National Police Commission or a court of law reviews your order and shoots it down. In that case you will be remembered as the President who tried to stop some of the most high-profile criminal investigations in the country — and failed,” she said in the letter.

Well written Ms Wickrematunga! Indeed, MY3 will be kicked out soon for his blatant abuse of power. He crowned the very person he accused of robbing the country as Prime Minister. He has no morals nor any sense or idea of what's wrong or right.

Hodha Hitha Tuesday, 20 November 2018 01:48 PM

    Well said

    Perumal Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:50 PM

Daughter Ahimsa, forgive us for voting dirty SOB into Presidency in January 2015, though in good faith,

    Raya Tuesday, 20 November 2018 01:21 PM

A lady with a backbone. Something our president lacks unfortunately. Sri Lanka is a beautiful place with brave and great people. Unfortunately the 225 tarnishes it.

JK Hatton Tuesday, 20 November 2018 01:21 PM

It is good people of SL remaining MS his role as president and his promise to people to get to his chair as president. But, now he has done the damage he is off his head - I have no respect, no hope on this guy and expect his removal from office right away.

    Kanna Tuesday, 20 November 2018 01:22 PM

To Inspector Adrian Nishantha Silva , lots of people and parents are believe you a lot and only hope is that u would do a prober job as you were doing up-to-date and get them the justices . stay blessed .best of luck .

    Lankaboy Tuesday, 20 November 2018 01:35 PM

Ahimsa, it is the president greediness to becomes president for 2 ND terms make these mistakes. You know how power hungry pyr politicians are. MY3 is no fifference. Infact he seems to be worse in this than even MR

    Mokan Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:05 PM

    Well this is Sri Lanka

    Keeraipidi Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:13 PM

My perception about SL is different. You chose a scarecrow that needed to be replaced by a President

Thanks for your courage. Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:40 PM

    Good Luck

    Himal Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:42 PM

Well said and the citizens should contemplate on the decisions they made previously. It's all about choices.

    Pradeep k Selvaratnam Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:49 PM

Great and brave Post Ms Ahimsa W,Your dad is the real hero, paid with his life to protect the truth for this country. Three things can't be hidden the Sun,moon and the truth.(Lord Buddha)

    lion Tuesday, 20 November 2018 02:49 PM

lady you have proved tha you are the daughter of late Lasantha Wickramathunga. Looks you have inherited Your fearles writing disregarding any repurcussion from those who are involoved from your late father.Continue the great work till you receive justice.

    Raj Tuesday, 20 November 2018 03:13 PM

Very soon MS's son going to write to UNA a same letter like this

    dutugamunu1 Tuesday, 20 November 2018 03:33 PM

If possible circulate this internationally to show his character to the world.

    Nish Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:03 PM

lol yahapalane was this close to closing all these cases including the golden horse, 9 lamboginis and USD 18 billion in Dubai but sirisena dissolved the government before that. is that what this kid is trying to say?

    Lara Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:03 PM

I think she has all the qualifications to take up the job of her father. Look at the fact twisting and assumptions in the letter.

All For One Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:55 PM

Her father died for speaking the truth and going against the government. You may support MR and that’s perfectly fine but you should never shut your eyes to the truth and blind condone everything your party does. Wrong is wrong. You’d never know true pain till a family member of yours gets killed the same way.

Lord Wolfstein Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:04 PM

You still do not want to believe that the Rajapakse Mafia clan consists of murderers and looters who kill mercilessly when someone comes to track them down.

    Dilham Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:04 PM

Poor girl. Still she thinks MS can read English

Reality Check Tuesday, 20 November 2018 04:58 PM

Sirisena 100% believes that JR made constitution authorizes him to do anything except changing a man to a woman and vice versa. What a fool!IMPEACH now!

    Ron Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:31 PM

Well done Ahimsa for your courage and conviction.Shame on you President Sirisena! Time to give it away and go to your village.

Be fair Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:33 PM

Admire the courage to write like this. But I don't necessarily agree to you, disclosing a brave officer's current job profile in public like this. Most of the cases are still pending closure. It is as bad as the President's order to transfer him

    Cluless Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:33 PM

Good letter. During the pre internet days we used to look forward to sundays specially to read the political column written by Lasantha aka Suranimala and also the defence update of Iqbal Athas. Lasantha was a fearless journalist and its important that his murderers are brought to justice. Sirisena would not and can't do that now. Its time for masses to protect democracy and rule of law of the country.

    akram Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:38 PM

Ahimsa well said do not worry for anything oneday you will get result that who killed your father and believe in god we all know your pain inpect who lost father.

    Will Tuesday, 20 November 2018 05:44 PM

dear President,we are with you ,and support politically PP SLFP, but we want you to uphold the justice ,again again we are telling you,do not let anybody to interfere with judiciary, like Ravi managed to come out with his fraud of foreign exchange case

    Islander Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:07 PM

By now MS should realise what he did to take power again in 2020 is going to be the very reason thats going to make sure he ll never ever come to power again.

    sandy123 Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:10 PM

Dear Ahimsa, You are a brave daughter of late Lasantha Wickramatunge with no doubt. However I have gut feeling that you have to look after your security since the murder may come your door step again. Since you are like a sister of mine, I thought to convey this advice to you. GOD bless you and your family.

    Ravi Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:21 PM

This officer has joined Reserve Police as Sub Inspector on name “Jerom Nishantha Kandappa “ How a Reserve Police Officer from Kotahena became “ Best Detective “ of Sri Lanka Police? You decide........

Hari Mani Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:36 PM

Wow. the young lady should be admired for exposing all the rotten deeds of Pujitha and Gotha. Where is justice in this country? A land of racist bigots.. Sorry for your loss and pain; I hope you find peace and happiness away from this pain.

    GH Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:45 PM

President and his Government should focus on many important issues rather than attending individual matters for that purpose, there are concerned divisions out there.

Samarakoon Bandara Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:45 PM

You are absolutely correct, Ms Wickramatunge. I appreciate the very comprehensive letter, and express my sincere thanks. Truth will prevail in the end. We are with you.

    Dimuthu Tuesday, 20 November 2018 06:46 PM

    Ameer Tuesday, 20 November 2018 07:47 PM

Dear AhimshaPlease excuse us for voting this president. Luckily you migrated because we do not have real "Ahimsha" here. We salute your father who is our hero for ever. Thanks for exposing the president to the world. This is a powerful letter he ever received.

This is well written by a group of people. As a daughter of assassinated, she has the right to claim justice for her farther. Dictation should be refused by all who expect and pledged to upheld equity within the society. We must also understand the importance of national security where few countries are aiming on having their person to control the country. HR were violated by numbers in those countries, which we are now get examples for democracy and HR protection. We should look at in all the angles. I respect this inspector, for his dedication. The writing makes him little biased and he has given the writer some information that should not be shared it seems, or writer made the inspector biased.

    Moiez Tuesday, 20 November 2018 08:14 PM

Well done Ahimsa, we are always with you, this greedy MS doesn't understand english, better send publish in sinhala newspaper and this fellow could read and the people of sri lanka will come to know the truth. Shame him infront of other people, even if he die I don't think people will go for his funeral. Curse MS.He is a mad god whole world knows him now.

    Sunil Tuesday, 20 November 2018 08:25 PM

Maithree is the most useless president we have had as much as RW is the worst PM. What a combination.

    TONY Tuesday, 20 November 2018 08:36 PM

YOU NEED GUTS TO WRITE TO THE PRESIDENT IN THIS MANNER. AT THIS MOMENT OUR PRESENDENT IS NOT HIS USUAL SELF. HE IS A LOST MAN TRYING TO ACT AS A BRAVE PRESIDENT. THEREFORE, AM SORRY TO SAY THAT YOUR LETTER MAY NOT GET THE ATTENTION ALL OF US EXPECT

    gawaya Wednesday, 21 November 2018 08:54 AM

I dunno Hitan will understand this much big words...

    Shammuganathan Wednesday, 21 November 2018 09:08 AM
