Karuna not welcome in new Govt.: Amaraweera

Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman would not be welcomed into a new government formed under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa after the parliamentary polls, or given any position in the SLPP or SLFP either, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said yesterday.

Responding to journalists at a news briefing at his office last afternoon, Minister Amaraweera condemned the recent remarks made by Karuna Amman that he had killed between 2,000 – 3,000 soldiers in one night.

“Not only we reject him and condemn him totally, we also had already initiated an inquiry on his statement. It is true that he once held a senior position in the SLFP, but not now. His remarks are of serious nature and after the inquiry we also take legal action against him,” Minister Amaraweera said. (Sandun A. Jayasekera)

Amaraweera has given a character certificate to Amman Karuna, after keeping him more than a decade as the Deputy Chairman of the SLFP as well as a deputy Minister post with Government soldiers and Police still giving protection to him and family.
