While condemning the Tuesday’s assault on Frontline Socialist Party protesters by the police, former MP Namal Rajapaksa said proper action should to be taken over the incident following an investigation.
Several activists of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) were assaulted when they were being arrested by the police at Lipton Circus in Colombo 7 on Tuesday.
At least 53 FSP members were arrested for violating a court order issued against the demonstration.
MP Rajapaksa said the recent behaviour of some members of Sri Lanka Police shouldn't tarnish the track record of the entire Department and the great job done during COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
“I strongly condemn the assault on protesters and call for it to be investigated and proper action to be taken,” he tweeted.

Mr.Namal,please do not try to fish in muddy waters. I am a great supporter of your uncle the President. I will do any thing to help him, to rule Srilanka. You have to go a long way to understand Srilankan way of thinking. I fully agree with the police,how they handled the situation. What the hell do you want at this moment? If the police were given freedom to control people who break the law, our country would have been a better place. What is your opinion about the under world and how the prison system works? The police enforced the court order. Therefore, Namal Rajapaksa should mind his own business. Do not act like you know better than President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Do not insult experience and knowledge, because you are a politician. Now only law and order has returned to Sri Lanka, don't join with the foreign powers to destroy it. Certain countries want disasters in the developing countries to rule over them, if Indians are falling into the trap of the foreign power, it becomes Indians' problem not Sri Lanka's problem. As India's policies continue to fail Indians may cross to Sri Lanka by boats, especially if there is a war between India and China. I will write to the President about it in details.
