The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order till December 6, preventing the FCID from taking action against former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa based on the Public Property Act.
Mr. Rajapaksa last Friday filed a Writ petition seeking the Court to quash a report filed under Offences against the Public Property Act.
In his application, he cited IGP Pujith Jayasundara, CID Director Shani Abeysekera, FCID DIG Ravi Waidyalankara, ASP Kamal Paliakara and the Attorney General as respondents.
He also sought Court to prevent the respondents from proceeding with the report filed against him. (S.S.Selvanayagam)

Legal protection for the grand thieves. What a pathetic legal system in Sri Lanka. This must be rectified by making necessary amendments to the existing Law, soon, to block such loop wholes as he is dead sure of such robberies.

Very true. He may come to power by next presidential election, and the judge may lose his job or even worse.

As expected. No surprise in the order. The law will apply only to the common man that too to the letter. If you do not have anything to hide then you don't need interim orders preventing investigations.

people have lost again the faith for our judiciary as it applies differently. In India recently a cult leader with millions of disciples in all over India was sentence to 22 years for alleged rape amidst strikes, riots closure of school in fever of the guru. This is how judiciary works in India

GR must be brave enough to face the courts and stand for trial. If he is proved guilty of any crime or corruption then he must accept the verdict. We have to wait and see. The whole country is waiting to see that proper justice is carried out.
