Do also visit the West, South and listen to the loved ones of the relatives who were killed by the ruthless terrorists - listen the forcefully kidnapped men and women by the terrorists; the child soldiers. Do a walk in Colombo and the surburbs and see for yourself the many, many tamils who live there, happily. Do not be biased - you will encounter a "staged" and well-rehearsed performance by some in the north and east, as they usually do, aided by the diaspora. Go back and also visit Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan.

For someone enlightened I need not tell you as to how democracy works. Briefly it is as bad as tyranny. Good thing you have no preconcieved ideas about Sri Lanka and about her people. However your experience as top UN agent travelling about in the developing world you know what to expect and little influence you can exercise. Your trip will be orchestrated by the UNDP in collusion with Sirisena/Ranil syndicate. Meet people whom they want you to meet. Can you honestly believe that you can make any objective conclusions. What I suggest is that you demand to meet the guys who are subjected terror and the perpatrators. Tamils accuse or being persecuted beause of the inequalities. For you to get a first hand view of these inequlities you ought to travel to areas both Sinhala and Tamil and muslim areas. Do not depend on your Sri Lankan staff for they are paid fancy salaries to dance according to the UNDP tune .....yes sir, yes sir, 3 bags full....
