Parliament is to inform President Maithripala Sirisena that he has to attend sessions at least once in three months as per the constitution.
Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella said that he would remind President that he will have to attend parliament sessions every three months as he is responsible to the legislature as per the constitution.
Mr Kiriella said this when Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri requested him to remind the President about it.
The discussion on the issue cropped up when JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the President had to attend parliament sessions once in every three months as he is responsible to the legislature.
“The President had not come to parliament since August last year although he is bound to come once in every three months as per the constitution,” Mr Dissanayake said.

He has no time to come to parliament. He must enjoy the perks during the time that is left.

So he flouts the constitution over and over again and gets away with it. why not throw the constitution away once and for all time.

The country will see the day light, the day neither UNP, nor SLFP or SLPP are in power. The leaders of these parties are hunting with the hound and running with the hare. There were photos of Mr RW attending the wedding MR's son yesterday or so.

This country is filled to the brim with fools, this is the reason we elect Sirisena who has all the time freely galivanting around the world but no time to attend parliament and solve the day to day problems of the people.
Neil Friday, 25 January 2019 09:41 AM
Sri Lanka will be better off if he never attends parliament.

The President has got used travelling around and does not have time to see his friends in the Parliament. Everything started with the Drugs. Once one gets used, he or she develops a habbit to continue. Hope he corrects himself.
