Former Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday lauded Germany and Norway for the steps they have taken to combat and control the spread of COVID-19 in their respective nations.
In his letter addressed to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Wickremesinghe said the steps taken by her government to control the virus could be considered as best examples to be followed by other countries.
"The steps taken to control the spreading of COVID-19 virus by your government could be considered as best examples to be followed by other countries,” he said in his letter addressed to the German leader.
“ I am sure that dramatic and timely measures taken by your government has paved the way for Norway to relax some of the emergency measures taken to control the pandemic . It is heartening to note that Norway has been able to take control of the outbreak. The people of Norway possess the strength and courage required to overcome the pandemic and march towards prosperity,” he said in his letter addressed to the Norwegian Prime Minister.

Unbelievable. This is pure BS by RW. What is this man talking about really? Today Germany has 155,000 infected persons with 1870 added today. Total death so far in Germany due to COVID-19 is 5760 and new deaths today is 185. This guy really has some hidden agenda, and I am perplex as to why he can't praise the amazing work done by our own health service and the security services who are doing an excellent service containing this epidemic in our own country.
