Geetha only MP with dual-citizenship: Immigration Controller

The Immigration Controller has informed the election observer PAFFREL today that Parliamentarian Geetha Kumarasinghe was the only MP who holds a dual-citizenship.

Addressing a news briefing, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said Immigration Controller M.N. Ranasinghe had informed them in writing that it was only Ms. Kumarasinghe who had been issued with a dual-citizenship certificate numbered 17096A.

“The Controller had obtained a list of details of all MPs from Parliament Secretary General including their names, dates of birth and identity card numbers. The details had been fed into the the department’s electronic data system which includes details of dual-citizenship holders. The department had also cross-referenced obtained date with the details of dual-citizenship holders which were not included in the computer system. The Controller had then confirmed that it was only Galle District MP Kumarasinghe who is a dual-citizen,” he said.

He said they have been informed that no certificate of dual-citizenship had been issued to other 224 Members of Parliament. (By Lahiru Pothmulla)

The Dept of I and E has been able to determine her dual citizenship status because she had CEASED to be a Lankan citizen and had to APPLY for Dual Citizenship. However there may be those who are SL Passport holders who have dual citizenship of other countries. They will NOT be recorded with the Dept of I and E. Their Dual Citizenship will be recorded by their OTHER country!!! Australian MPs have discovered that they are dual citizens through laws of the OTHER country, and their seats are in jeopardy!

I am saying this with some authority. There are many people in Sri Lanka who own another PP without the knowledge of PP office. They use this PP not pay annual payments to government offices if they are staying on foreign PP. Poor woman has told the PP office that she has another PP. Perhaps she wanted to live legally in Sri Lanka. Poor Woman!!

She may be the only holder of a dual-citizen certificate. But there may well be other MPs who are citizens and passport holders of another country but who have not applied for dual citizenship. If so, aren't these people also in violation of the constitution?

This dirty woman betrayed the public and all officials to say that she bore no dual passport. She was lying right and left to be in the parliament. Now this woman has to pay the price.A damn liar mistakenly entered the council.
