The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today warned it would resort to a countrywide work stoppage on Monday over several demands including Wednesday's teargassing of protesting university students.

GMOA media spokesman Samantha Ananda told Daily Mirror that they would stop work from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon.

“No arrest have been made in connection the grenade attack on the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) and no legal action has taken against former SAITM CEO Sameera Senaratne,” he said.

Dr. Ananda said they were also protesting against government moves to suppress trade union leaders.(Kalathma Jayawardhane)

Public is aware that GMOA has nothing other than striking. Public money is being wasted as salaries on these idiots. Government must take some drastic action against these guys, otherwise before long public will take law and order into their hand. Poor public cannot tolerate this nonsense any longer.

Arrest one or two these idiots and keep them in behind Bars. Reduced their salary for the number of days they are going on strike.

GMOA is to strike against the attack on the student union demonstration. They were attacked because they violated the court order. GMOA is striking in support of violating the Court order. This is the second occasion that they con tempted the court order. GMOA disregard the Law and Order of the country. An insult to their noble profession.

GMOA now joined with notorious JVP are well known in the whole world for strike actions, but they have not done anything to their members or profession. It is time for them to step down or the general membership must throw them out from executive committee and appoint a fresh non-bias non-political committee,The present lot had damaged enough.

Excellent idea. But for now, strike is 22nd for AP's case to intimidate judges and 31st for SLMC to defy.
