The Kuwait Police yesterday arrested four Sri Lankan women on charges of prostitution during a raid carried out in Hassawi, Kuwait, the Arab Times reported.
Initial investigations revealed that the women charged KD 4 for their ‘services’ and their sponsors have filed absconding cases against them.
They were referred to the General Criminal Investigation Department for legal measures.

Before you condemn these pitiful women, it is possible they were abused by their sponsors, who have accused them of absconding. They still have to eat, so what else were they to do.

One of the easiest excuses given by Sri Lankan, mainly Sinhala women would be that the Arab men abused or raped them. Yes, off-course there are rare cases of rape and abuse but those are extreme cases. Quite often sexual activity is consensual. Problem occurs when some women get pregnant. When that happen the authorities deport them. But that doesn't mean they were raped or abused.

Finaly they will com here and cry saying thre boses only abused them. Then our fools will jump to streets and shout against Arabs. Same culture will continue .

we keep on sending our women to work in the middle east and then we keep on blaming the sponsors. No other south Asian countries sending their women as house maids. it's a shame on us

We have enough employment opportunity in Sri lanka to our women in so many industries. Now the Plantation industry finding difficult for women employees where the women can earn easily the amount they earned in middle east countries as an House maid. Why our government encouraging them for foreign employment as House maids?
