Four Indian fishermen arrested in SL waters

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest four Indian fishermen, along with an Indian fishing trawler, poaching in Sri Lankan waters off West of Delft Island last night.

The arrested fishermen and the fishing trawler were handed over to fisheries department in Kankesanthurai.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Saturday wrote to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to help release the four Indian fishermen, who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy earlier on Thursday.
