Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya has appointed a five judges bench to hear the fundamental rights petition filed in the Supreme Court against the Millenium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCCC), Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), and the Acquisition and Cross Servicing Agreement (ACSA).
The petition will be taken up for consideration on November 13, 2019, before the Bench comprising Justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, L T B Dehideniya, Murdu Fernando, S Thurairaja, Gamini Amarasekara.
Petitioner had sought an interim order preventing the government from signing these agreements until the final determination of the petition.
The petitioner states that signing of alleged agreements is in violation with the Constitution of Sri Lanka. (Shehan Chamika Silva and Yoshitha Perera)
